Fractured transformation
Transformation can be digital as well as analogue. In a method of digitising and randomising a scene as a means of creating an abstract painting the scene of the old barn at Lanyon was broken down into a network of over a thousand regular, rectangular, picture elements and these were then translated using a mathematical random number table to redistribute them over the picture field. They were then painted in their new sequence to produce the fractured painting shown here. This style combines elements of cubism and the modern science of digital modulation. |
